Interview:

1. Describe your book in 5 words

Teen has magic, chaos ensues

2. What did you learn from researching for your book?

I generally don’t research, that’s why I write fantasy novels. 😄

3. What’s your favorite character you’ve ever written?

That’s a loaded question! I still really like the journey that my space pirate Lyssa goes on during the four books of the Razia series. It’s such a start-and-stop effort that when she finally gets to the end, it’s a great feeling.

I also really like Galian from the Madion War Trilogy because he’s probably the realest dude I’ve seen in literature.

4. When did you know you wanted to become a writer?

I’ve always been a storyteller, and I started putting down novels when I was eleven. I decided to take the plunge and go for it full-time about 2 years ago.

5. What’s your favorite book (or a book you’d recommend to others)?

Another loaded question! My favorite books recently are the Relentless Trilogy by Karen Lynch, Hailey Edwards Black Dog Series, CJ Archer’s Necromancer series, and anything by Leigh Bardugo.

S. Usher Evans is an author, blogger, and witty banter aficionado. Born in Pensacola, Florida, she left the sleepy town behind for the fast-paced world of Washington, D.C.. There, she somehow landed jobs with BBC, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Television before finally settling into a “real job” as an IT consultant. After a quarter life crisis at age 27, she decided consulting was for the birds and rekindled a childhood passion for writing novels. She sold everything she owned and moved back to Pensacola, where she currently resides with her two dogs, Zoe and Mr. Biscuit.
