I must confess, I’ve never really looked into the world of colouring books of this style, but this has really peaked my interest – I will definitely be looking into this 🙂 Your colouring is fab – so vibrant, and realistic. Would you recommend the pencil set you use? I usually go for the creamy Derwent colouring pencils (I just find them easier to use in terms of applying shades and such) but am looking for a newer set!

I have close to 20 coloring books that I use, and an Amazon wish list with over 30 more haha. I use them all the time so I figured I should start reviewing them. It’s always helpful to get a flip-through of what’s inside before you buy one.
I haven’t used the Derwent colored pencils before so I can’t compare but I definitely recommend Prismacolors. I use the Scholar set, which are student grade so they’re much cheaper than Premiers. They have a softer and waxier lead than many colored pencils, so it’s easier to get vibrant colors without too much pressure. Hope that helps!

Ah, I’ll have to check them out – they do sound like a good set. I pretty much love any pencil that’s creamier/waxier than usual because it allows for so much extra play with colour and tone, without additional pressure. Thanks for coming back to me!

Ugh this is beautiful! What a great coloring book! What are your other favorites? I have found that I don’t like realistic books as much as patterns/abstracts because I feel like I should color things with the proper colors. If that makes any sense.

Does your hand ever cramp up or go numb during some long sessions? Mine does and it’s a bit alarming.. haha.

If I’m using colored pencils that don’t have a lot of color (like Crayola) then I have to press a lot harder onto the paper and my hand gets cramped up easier. The colored pencils I use have a softer lead so I don’t have to press as hard and that helps too.
