Bout of Books Readathon Wrap Up

Readathontumblr_nhny50nytn1qhoahuo1_1280

I participated in the Bout of Books Readathon last week. The readathon started on Monday and finished yesterday (Sunday).  I set some goals for myself before the readathon, and created a tentative TBR for the week.

Here’s how I did.

Goals Completed (All of them!!!!):

  • Read 1,200 pages I read 1,225!
  • Complete 4 books  Sort of. I finished 3 1/2. and I’m 60% done with my fourth book.
  • Participate on social media every day in some form I completed every challenge but one, participated in one of the Twitter chats, and posted daily updates on my blog.
  • Read 2 benchwarmer books (for #AYEARATHON) I did this! Pushing the Limits, One + One = Blue, and Say What You Will were all benchwarmer books.
  • Have fun! I had lots of fun! I don’t think I’ll set book or page number goals next time though. I stressed myself out this afternoon scrambling to get through 200 more pages to reach my page number goal.

This was my TBR:

I read:

  1. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
  2. One + One = Blue by M.J. Auch
  3. Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler
  4. Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan
  5. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
  6. Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern (I read 60%)

Overall I’m really happy with my progress! I read more than I normally do in a week, and that’s always my main goal with any readathon.  Plus, I gave every book I read 4 stars and I was able to knock three books off my TBR that I’ve had on my shelf for awhile.

Bout of Books 15 TBR

Readathon

Yesterday I posted about Bout of Books 15 and my goals for the readathon.  The readathon starts tomorrow the 4th, and I’ve set aside a stack of books to choose from throughout the week.  Because I’m a big mood reader, when I do readathons I typically pick out more books than I plan to actually read so that I’m not stuck with a specific set of books.  I’ve found that this really helps keep me out of reading slumps, and it gives me some extra books in case I surpass my reading goals.

Here are the books I picked out for the week:

BoB TBR

  1. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
  2. One + One = Blue by M.J. Auch
  3. Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler
  4. Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan
  5. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
  6. Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern

My goal is to read four of these books.  The monthly #AYEARATHON readathon is also this week, and the theme for January is benchwarmers. Benchwarmers are books that have been sitting on your shelves for awhile.  Four of the six books I chose have been on my TBR for at least 6 months, and the other two books (Just Visiting & Tell the Wind and Fire) are from my most recent book haul.
